As of May 27, 2025, the wind-driven Greer Fire is contained near Greer, Apache County, Arizona. It has burned 20,833 acres in the White Mountains, in and around the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest (1)(2).
County Road 1120, State Routes 260 and 373, and nearby areas such as Coon Canyon and Benny Creek were all impacted by the fire.
This area of eastern Arizona was under a Red Flag Warning due to low humidity and high winds. Dry grass and pinyon-juniper were fueling the fire.
