As of July 30, 2025, wildfires in western Colorado is strongly impacting air quality for several cities and towns.
The 60-acre Mountain View Fire is fully contained northwest of Buena Vista in Chaffee County, Colorado. The fire burned two homes and caused 50 additional homes to be evacuated.
The larger 4,232-acre South Rim Fire is burning in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (1). The fire is located about 14 miles northeast of Montrose.
